One person was critically injured in a shooting Saturday during a house party in Ontario, authorities said.
The victim, described only as a male, was shot at least once in the upper body at a home in the 100 block of West Caroline Court, said Ontario police Officer Eliseo Guerrero. He was not a resident of the home and was attending a party at the house.
A neighbor who heard gunshots called police at 12:51 a.m. Officers responding to the call found the victim at the home, Guerrero said. Other party goers had stuck around and were interviewed by investigators. The shooter had fled the scene before police arrived.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery Saturday morning.
A motive for the shooting and what lead up to the incident was not immediately available.
