The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the temblor at 12:26 p.m. with an epicenter near the Cahuilla Indian Reservation and about 9 miles southwest of Anza.
The quake was felt in Riverside, Temecula, Indio, Hemet, Cathedral City, Oceanside and San Diego, according to reports to the USGS.
