Family Art Day in the Park will offer activities and live music Sunday, May 20, beside the 380 giant spheres floating in Lake Evans at Riverside’s Fairmount Park.
The free event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., near the playground and carousel at the park, 2601 Fairmount Blvd.
Activities will include outdoor games, making giant bubbles, painting kites and splatter painting while supplies last, according to the Riverside Art Museum, which organized the event with Windermere Tower Properties.
An art and photography contest with adult and student categories is open to anyone who depicts the public art project. Drawings, paintings or photographs can be turned in to the museum on Friday, June 29, or Saturday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Judging will be in July, with winners notified by July 31.
A launch party for the plastic spheres, each one 6 feet in diameter and brightly painted by local students, was May 11. The orbs will stay in the water until June 1.
