Mario Delacruz, 20, and Alonso Rodriguez Jr., 19, were arrested Monday following an investigation by Hemet police. Both suspects were booked into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of murder.

According to Hemet police Lt. Eddie Pust, the 36-year-old victim, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, was attacked about 11:20 p.m. Sunday at his home in the 1000 block of North State Street, near Fruitvale Avenue.

Pust alleged that there was a confrontation between the victim and his stepson, Rodriguez, who allegedly stabbed the man multiple times with Delacruz’s help.

Officers were called to the scene immediately after the assault and discovered the man clinging to life. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later, according to Pust.

Delacruz and Rodriguez were identified as the alleged perpetrators in the ensuing investigation, and both men were arrested without a struggle on State Street, Pust said.

A possible motive for the attack was not disclosed.
