Juvenile arrested near Moreno Valley Community Park on suspicion of possessing a loaded gun

A 15-year-old juvenile was taken into custody Tuesday morning after deputies found him with a loaded handgun, the Riverside County Sheriff’s department said.


The juvenile, who was a student of a nearby school, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a loaded firearm, a sheriff’s department news release said.


Deputies were patrolling the area by Moreno Valley Community Park on the 13300 block of Frederick Street when about 9:30 a.m they noticed several juveniles in the park, the release said. They approached  the juveniles and they ran off.


One of the juveniles was noticed throwing an object into a drainage canal as he ran, the release said. Deputies caught the student and he was taken back to the area where he tossed the object, which was a loaded gun. He was then taken into custody.
