Person dies after hit by Metrolink train in Baldwin Park

One person died when they were hit by a Metrolink train in Baldwin Park, stopping the San Bernardino line to Los Angeles just before noon Tuesday.

Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Randall Wright said firefighters received a call about a train striking someone at Ramona Boulevard and Downing Avenue at 11:08 a.m.

He said firefighters pronounced the person dead at the scene.

Details about the fatal collision weren’t available.

Metrolink spokesman Mike Atchue said nobody on the train was injured. San Bernardino Line 321 carried 175 passengers, he said.

Atchue said the passengers got off at the Baldwin Park station. Buses will ferry them to Los Angeles.

The tracks between the Baldwin Park and Covina stations were closed because of the accident, according to a Metrolink tweet.
