A 69-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man is in jail after being accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 18-year-old female acquaintance, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.
Richard Vincent Ostrea was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 7, on suspicion of kidnapping, sexual penetration by force and false imprisonment. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, according to jail records. Bail is $350,000.
Ostrea and the victim had known each other for about a year, according a sheriff’s news release, which does not give the specific nature of their relationship.
The incident occurred Oct. 11, according to a sheriff’s news release, and deputies interviewed the victim on Nov. 2.
They learned that the victim was visiting Ostrea when he forced himself on her, physically restraining the victim and choking her before sexually assaulting her.
Deputies served a search warrant on Tuesday and found evidence to back up the victim’s statement, the release said. Ostrea was then arrested.
