Riverside man completes basic training

Army Pvt. Justin Fortney recently graduated from basic training at Fort Benning in Georgia.

During the ten-week training program, recruits learn basic tactical and survival skills, physical fitness, first aid, military courtesy, Army history, core values and traditions.

Fortney is currently receiving job training as a M1 armor crewman; a 15-week program of tank operation, armor offensive and defensive tactics, map reading, scouting techniques and field combat strategy.

He is the son Gary Fortney and grandson of Golden and Marilyn Scott all from Riverside.

Fortney graduated in 2013 from Arlington High School in Riverside.
