Work has begun this week on the city’s latest effort to enhance the historic downtown.
Crews are installing gateway arches on East State Street at Orange and Ninth Streets, which will provide music and decorative lighting, according to the city’s Facebook page.
The work will include saw-cutting the asphalt, installation of electrical conduit and electrical boxes in bulb-outs along the length of the street as well as the backfilling and repair of the trench, according to the Facebook post.
Construction should wrap up by 8:30 a.m. each work day, according to the post.
The project’s first phase, along the first two blocks from Orange Street to Sixth Street, is anticipated by be complete by Dec. 11.
Construction from Orange Street to Redlands Boulevard is anticipated to be completed by early January.
