Kim Jong-Un ‘bans North Koreans from eating hot dog soup’
Hot dogs are reportedly seen as too Western in the dictator’s eyes (Picture: Getty Images) Kim Jong-un has reportedly banned North Koreas from eating hot dogs because they’re too Western. The despot decreed that anyone caught serving them at home or selling them in the street is committing treason. Offenders risk being sent to the communist state’s labour camps where conditions are so appalling the UN said they may amount to crimes against humanity. The decree is the latest example of Pyongyang cracking down on what it sees as the invasion of Western culture, according to the Sun. The latest target is Budae-jjigae — a spicy noodle soup made using hot dogs or Spam. It was imported from pro-Western South Korea in 2017 and quickly became very popular. But a vendor in the northern province of Ryanggang said: ‘Sales of budae-jjigae in the market have stopped. ‘The police and market management have said anyone caught selling it will be shut down.’ Divorcing couples also face up to six months in a labour camp under the hermit kingdom’s latest bizarre crackdown (Picture: AP) It was also reported that Kim has ordered divorcing couples be sent to a labour camp for up to six months to atone for their ‘crimes’. This is because splitting up is seen as ‘anti-socialist’. Until last year, only the person who first filed for divorce was sent to a labour training camp, Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported. A resident of the northern Ryanggang province said: ‘I went to the Kimjongsuk County People’s Court… where 12 people received divorce decrees. ‘Immediately after the verdict, they were transferred to the county labour training camp.’ Follow Metro on WhatsApp to be the first to get all the latest news Follow us to receive the latest news updates from Metro (Picture: Getty Images) Metro’s on Whatsapp! Volcano On St. Vincent Could Experience Larger Eruption

And a larger eruption may be on the way. Richard Robertson, a geologist with the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, said the volcano is in its explosive eruption phase. The initial explosion of dust and debris St. Vincent experienced Friday is likely just the beginning. “The explosive eruption has started and it is possible you could have more explosions like these,” he said during a press conference. “The first one is not necessarily the worst one, the first bang is not necessarily the biggest bang this volcano will give.” Ralph Gonsalves, the prime minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, ordered residents on the northern side of the island to evacuate Thursday out of the red volcano danger zone. The Associated Press reported some 16,000 people were forced to flee their homes. Soot and ash fell throughout the night, blanketing neighborhoods and streets across the island Saturday morning. Robertson said the ash is expected to fall for the next handful of days, possibly even weeks. The dome of the volcano, which is about 3,100 feet long and more than 820 feet wide, was destroyed in Friday’s eruption, catapulting 460 million cubic feet of debris into the atmosphere. The ash could reach as far as Jamaica and parts of South America, Robertson said. The last time La Soufrière had a major eruption was in 1979, which lasted several weeks. This eruption, Robertson said, “will more than likely be a bigger eruption than 1979 was.” He added, “We don’t know how much material is down there that wants to come out.” The
